The lung post got me to remember this. The Lindbergh Heart or Lindbergh Pump, a perfusion pump that was invented by Charles Lindbergh and Nobel Prize winner Alexis Carrel in 1935. The forerunner of the modern heart pump.
I had never heard of one until I saw it mentioned in this Boris Karloff movie, The Walking Dead, 1936. The scientist says keep that Lindbergh Heart pumping and that got me looking. Amazingly, I have never found a clip of one in operation except in this movie in the scene beginning at 24:50.

Politicians wanted a war to build their wealth and kids like Prather paid the price.
That’s an outrageous slander. The communists were advancing all over the world using warfare as one of their tools. We absolutely had to confront that and stop it. We did.
Communism could only succeed in a constantly expanding mode. Once we stopped it, it failed. That war was stupidly fought by the political class, which was certainly guilty of putting advancement above success, but the war was a noble one, and it yielded great benefits by stopping communist expansion. And not just there; we stopped them on every continent.

Nations that fell to communism after 1963
Afican shitholes: Benin, Congo, Ethiopia, Angola, Zimbabwe
Asia: Laos, Nepal (briefly)
Euroasian: Moldova, Cyprus
South America: Colombia and Venezuela.
I say Colombia because a significant portion of its landmass is controlled by FARC
Many advanced nations have strong communist contingents that are active in daily politics.
So how did Vietnam prevent the spread of communism?
