I lived in the Lower 9th Ward when Betsy hit in 65 and was just shy of 13.
Our house was on Dauphine St. between Caffin and Flood and we never had water in the streets, but it did flood on St. Claude. Puglia's Supermarket flooded and they opened their doors for people to come and take any canned food they wanted.
When Katrina hit, the house I had lived in on Dauphine got water inside the house and it was raised 3 ft. off the ground. Much different situation in 05.

Watched this one recently. Ol’ Orson was an odd one. Insisted that Rita cut and dye her hair. You can tell in that pic that she’s platinum blonde. I don’t hate it but it seems almost sacrilegious. Movie is worth watching if you haven’t seen it.

Studio dyed her hair red, after several painful treatments to raise her hairline and give her more forehead
