you must have been rich! we had one glove we all shared and iirc, that was the only color when that first came out
I lived by a golf course so my batting gloves were a pair of Titleist golf gloves I found laying in the cart path. They were so much nicer than regular batting gloves that I convinced the other redneck kids that Titleist was an elite baseball brand lol
On another note.. I think sleeping with my catchers mitt under my mattress gave me scoliosis

Who was the first MLB player to use batting gloves?
The Hawk, Ken Harrelson.
Like you, he used golf gloves.

The Human Be-In was an event held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park Polo Fields on January 14, 1967. It was a prelude to San Francisco's Summer of Love, which made the Haight-Ashbury district a symbol of American counterculture and introduced the word "psychedelic" to suburbia.

Well damn. Thanks for the trivia. I went and read an article about him wearing his golf glove due to a blister.

He also played for the independent Portland team that his father owned.
"The Battered Bastards of Baseball" was a fun watch.

I saw the Midland Cubs play the Alexandria Aces at Bringhurst Field, about 1972.
Duke Snider managed the Aces.
First year of the Aces was the best. Some friends and I got the general admission season tickets for $10-may have been student rates.
Double headers in Texas League were two 7-inning games, starting at 6pm. One we attended went 7 innings the first game and the second game was tied after 7 and went another 7, ending at 2:00AM. Probably less than 50 people left in the park

I see he's smoking while filling the tank. Okay, that's a bit questionable. But... Is that a Ford Pinto he's filling up? I seem to recall them having an issue with suddenly "warming up" when they got rear ended.
(Not sure it's a Pinto, but the shape of the rear end that's visible looks a lot like it from this angle.)
