There's not a suburban white mother today who would let little Paxton/Jackson/Braxton anywhere near those.

My childhood

Remember it well. When I attended Arabi Elementary on Friscoville Ave. in Arabi back in the late 50's they had a big swing set that was a magnet for us kids when recess came.

And when visiting my grandma up on Magazine St. there was a playground on the corner of Napoleon and Magazine that had the big metal slide, a tall swing set with several swings and monkey bars to play on.

The corner is still vacant, but no playground equipment is there now.

They got a room service menu for food and drink
A porcelain throne and an aluminum sink
Two big pillows to rest my head
A Magic Fingers and a king-size bed

Put in a quarter
Turn out the light
Magic Fingers makes ya feel alright

Uh feel alright
Feel alright
Magic Fingers makes you feel alright
