National Pipeline Mapping System

Enter your state and county to see how close you are to pipelines...

Here's a crazy little tidbit. That map is roughly accurate. You would be a tad alarmed at how many unknown/unmarked/unmapped pipelines we run into on the ROW

I have worked the remediation side of several pipeline ruptures. Pictures do not do it justice. The amount of heat is unbelievable. On one site there was a pond about an acre in size, it got so hot that it boiled and the fish were floating cooked whole fish cooked. Oak trees 4' in diameter burnt all the way into the ground nothing left.

ALWAYS call 811 before digging. You just never know what is in the grass.

Yeah I’m in the industry also and aware of the scope of pipeline infrastructure. The crude oil and refined products lines mostly end at refineries, distribution terminals and airports. The natural gas distribution network is a whole different animal as it reaches into every populated area in the country all the way into homes.

I'm having a hard time grasping the scale of that picture.

Based on the size of the F-150s on the road, the diameter of the orange fence is about 70-75 yards side-to-side. So, the entirety of that fenced area is essentially the same as a football field (if the field were square.)

Just an estimate.

I live about 200' from one that runs East / West through Sandy Springs, GA. Not sure if it shows up on that map, but it's a Colonial Pipeline property.

I remember when Colonial was building that branch (they were one of my clients).

West, TX plant explosio

It was an ammonium nitrate explosion in TX, not a natural gas explosion.
