I don't see how that cockeyed crisscross configuration was necessary. It's just odd.

It’s for flow. It makes it easier to merge in and off.

If you look at it from above it looks like a cluster frick. If you actually drive it though it makes a lot of sense and is not even the least bit confusing.

I would love a coffee table book of how Baton Rouge roads were named.

Lee Drive was named after the great General Robert E Lee I would assume. All I got.

Already happens. One car went straight and into the Valhalla lake. The one on the right as you face Valhalla. Others get T-boned or rear ended all because of the funky intersection.

Latest I heard they were gonna straighten it out from a Y and have it a 4 way intersection with a light and some turn lanes.

Roundabout was killed because it was too expensive.

All this from the St George councilman for District 1 which is where the intersection is located in.

Roundabout was also killed because the Valhalla people bitched about it in the council meeting

Oh, were they gonna use some of the land the lakes are on? I would have thought Dr Fresh who owns the huge tract of low lying land on the corner had some pull and helped kill it because it would take his land.

What was Valhalla’s beef?

ETA: Just heard it was because Valhalla was gonna have some weird way into the roundabout to go west.

They have a bunch of undeveloped land that could shoot directly to 61 where the Mike Andersons is so it would be just south of 42 and just north of 73.

How dare you propose a road that goes through a swamp! Basically, the same $hit that is holding up the future 'new' bridge.

The exit needs to be at bluff road. This is the only way to fix highland exit traffic.

This is 1000% true...God knows whoever owns all the land around that the new Pecue exit lobbied to put it there or paid somebody off. Bluff would save so much more in the way of headaches and traffic issues....this placement and build was political bullshite...so now, Old Perkins remains a cluster frick for everyone..

I believe the residents in the area pushed for the traffic light over the traffic circle. It’s gonna look beyond stupid on their part when looking into the future.

Ppl hate them but I think that’s a prime candidate for a roundabout

It allows a 3 stage signal to be a 2 stage

Divergent diamonds are legit traffic solution. You get rid of all the lefts

I think as they put more businesses on that exit it will get more use and traffic. I think someone said they were going to put a Love's there. Also need to put a grocery store.
