Hours later, as the mayor's comments started proliferating through the media, representatives for the hospital system called and complained that the mayor's comment wasn't true, despite the fact that she made the claim - seemingly with a high degree of certainty - on a popular cable new show.

Spokesman Keith Jones told azcentral.com that Abrazo hospitals have "adequate morgue space."

Here's the story: Phoenix and the rest of the state have been asked to implement their emergency plans to prepare for possible COVID-19 overloads.

Part of the plan, Jones said, was to proactively make sure there would be enough morgue space. So the hospital system ordered refrigerated storage weeks ago, but they have yet to be deployed.

Scaring your constituents based on lies. Great leadership!

This has been happening way too much across the nation, and I am tired of it

Or just bury them? You don't have to perform an autopsy on every corpse.

I just saw the original story on TV. This is what they do. They got want they wanted out of it (spread fear) so they don't care anymore.

The correction won't get the air time the original did and now it's done.

Pretty typical of "journalism" these days. It's a sad state of affairs.

Maybe they need to scare the idiots who refuse to listen. I mean Phoenix is wonderful shape right now, aren’t they??? It’s a shame that someone may resort to doing something like that because of people’s “rights” and “Left wing conspiracies”. If they haven’t brought in makeshift morgues, it’s time to place the order.
Has anyone checked the news lately?? How about watching a press conference from the health officials in Arizona?? Of course you haven’t. This virus is a just a “cold” being overblown by the rest of the globe, to unseat Trump. Again.... THIS is why the United States is headed for a disaster right now.

Are there that many people dying around the clock like that ? They make it seem like a person is dying every minute and they’re stacking dead bodies on top of bodies

Democrat leadership principles
1. Racist
2. Scare tactics, play the boogeyman card.
3. Use taxpayer money to buy votes.
4. Open Borders- non-citizens can vote. The dead can vote absentee.

That’s isn’t the issue.

Many times there are delays of families claiming the bodies from the morgue. So the bodies pile up.

And hospital morgues do sometimes stack up bodies if they need to.

ETA: my hospital has not had morgue issues....even with us averaging at least 1-2 COVID deaths a day

Horrible. My hospital system now has 9 COVID only units. And the other regular units are getting pretty full as well of non COVID patients. And this is basically the same story at other hospitals in our area as well.

We haven’t run out of physical space just yet. My biggest worry is finding staff. Staff are getting worn out and many getting sick with COVID. Some have been out over a month from it cause they still haven’t fully recovered. So that just leads to more staffing issues. They are starting to pull nurses from other non patient care roles to help out at the beside now as well.

We have also had some staff just quit. A few nurses that were close to retirement(we have a pension plan) just deciding to retire early...that kind of thing

Last I checked....we didn’t turn the majority of our hospitals into flu only units. We didn’t admit adults to our pediatric units in flu seasons. We didn’t turn our ORs into ICUs during flu season (that’s my hospital’s next step when we run out of ICU beds).

But I’m not gonna even argue. It’s really no use on this board. You guys have made up your minds about it long ago and are hellbent on sticking to it.

Good luck with that

ETA: Also....there is a flu vaccine (that offers some protection) as well as Tamiflu

I think what you have to realize is how fricking stupid you are. Once you do, and realize how worthless your opinion is, you might transform yourself into something not completely worthless

Please tell me what you do in the medical field?

I work closely with the medical director of our infection control department. She is an Infectious Disease specialist. Who works very closely with our state health department during all this. And has also had conversations with our governor.

The stuff I’m mentioning is directly from her. So I guess you are saying she is “fricking stupid”?

Am I correct?
