re: Phoenix, AZ Zoo - Food Stamp Entrance Fee

So avoid the Phoenix Zoo on Tuesdays & Sundays, good to know.

Food stamps should be food stamps again, not a look alike debit card. Very specific items should be made available, and anyone abusing the system should be harshly dealt with. It has gone from a system to help those in need to a failed negotiation tactic to keep the lower class from violence.

Tuesdays and Sundays are likely slow days, so they are offering a discount to people who, at least facially, would need it most.
Going to the zoo on Tuesdays is probably why they can't get a job.

If you are in Orleans Parish, the ebt crowd gets free entrance to zoo while the average family gets to pay for it and can barely afford to go themselves. It’s not right. Hopefully that crowd doesn’t hang out there.

Paying folks ought to boycott all and let them enjoy the ebt crowd.

Just go back to making it easier to sell and trade, huh.

As someone who actually had to deal with the cards, it's not hard to sell and trade now. Nobody is checking IDs with these things.

There were zero security checks on the coupons. I could give you a booklet for crack rock and not even have to trust that you'll return with my card.

But here you are saying it’s the least of your worries. So don’t get mad when we keep increasing debt.
I can not envision a scenario where government spends less and lowers debt
I know in the day they did that but if they were serious about I would be like frick those kids no zoo.
So now it seems so I wan kids to the zoo, tranny story hour, or illegals getting cell phones and it is an easy let the poors see the giraffe

I agree somewhat, but if big daddy government supplements all aspects of a person's life, they have no incentive to better themselves. If they get a job (or a better job) and no longer qualify for EBT, then that $40 trip to the zoo all of a sudden becomes $160 for 4 adults.
So, for example, if this system happened here, we personally pay for BREC through property taxes, then have to 100% support our own children, and then pay the full fee at the zoo. That's pretty messed up.
This isn't for the parents; it's for the kids. How many adults you know all go to the zoo together?

Just keep that crap out of the 85255...

Fine. 2 adults, 2 kids so $140. Still a lot more than $40. My point stands.
And I'm pretty sure I don't know any people who use EBT to go to the zoo, so there's that. I mean, maybe double dates to the zoo are a thing. Who am I to judge?

Obviously. The point is to make it cheaper for poor people.

Then what the frick's the problem?

I don't know, maybe I'm just getting a little tired of being taxed all day every day while others just get to do whatever. It's tiring.

How about the kid who has a single mother who doesn't quite qualify for food stamps.. but who can't justify paying $70 to take her kid to the zoo on a Saturday because she has to buy her own groceries.
F that kid I guess.

YEAH frick THAT STRAWKID!
Make it free for all kids for all I care. But short of that, I'm not getting bent out of shape over some kids getting a discount.

Isn't the scam now where you go into a known scam store, buy a single EBT item, get rung up for $100 by the store for a $5 item, get $80 back in cash, and then the store owner pockets the $15? I wouldn't even know what an EBT card looks like, but that's what some old coworkers told me they did.

Ehh, more free shite for the dregs of society.
Fine fine, but if the contributors are forced to pay for these type of freebies. Can we at least get large signs around the zoo warning the full price paying customers not to bother on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s
something like,
“Hey, we want to apologize in advance to our real customers, but the crowd on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s is gonna be rough….maybe consider coming to see us another day unless you want your wallet stolen or to be in the background of a WorldStar Hip Hop viral
video ”
