Because cops in places like philly don’t give a shite about a drug possession arrest, especially some junkie using a free clinic for clean needles
I guess
Seems like an easy way to see where they are getting the drugs from. Monitor who is coming in and out and watch where they get the drugs then bust up the crack house. I doubt these places get much use as long as it’s illegal

Huh? This basically is Hamsterdam minus the actual selling of drugs

They will get used plenty. Legal injection sites aren’t something philly just created, they have been around for a while. Multiple states are in the process of introducing bills to legalize them

Wonderful. They're applying the Seattle model of epic fail.

What happens when after the first OD and the family sues the city for basically sanctioning illegal activity?
Taxpayers lose out twice.

How? There are some countries that provide heroin to addicts so that they know what amount they are getting and it has also had an impact on crime (lower crime).
Public executions, cutting off hands for stealing, chopping dicks off for sexual assult, etc. would lower crime too. Doesn't mean we should do it. Using tax $ to get people high is fricking retarded.

You linked a homeless shelter that has the following policy
What am I missing?
quote:
Be drug and alcohol free, upon campus bed availability a Urine Analysis (UA) will be completed to screen for drugs and alcohol

I’m sure nobody has thought of this.

but space to use drugs is provided for those who so choose
keeps some of the activity off the streets and medical emergencies can be dealt with

You literally linked a homeless shelter that says “walking distance to detox” and says you can/will be asked to leave if you commit a felony/misdemeanor on the property.
Nothing about a drug safe zone that I saw.

Probably because a population that’s always loaded isn’t a moral or productive population?
Junkies are fricking losers.
Here’s the thing, yeah yeah, drugs for the most part should be legal in a supposedly free nation. But...the government shouldn’t be fricking incentivizing people get loaded. Wtf kind of message is that?

I saw that they offer a "low barrier" courtyard where it looks like they probably look the other way to IV use. I was just wondering if it was equivalent to the Seattle proposition of having health workers actually supervise injections. I'm thinking it's not.

And for the record, I'm not opposed to safe injection sites. The problem is nobody wants them around their neighborhood or their business. And who can blame them?
Seattle tried to solve this with mobile injection vans but the state AG said he would have them seized the second they hit a public street.

Typically, a site is stocked with naloxone, the antidote to overdoses of illegal fentanyl, and heroin, as well as oxygen, which helps revive overdose victims. Users bring in drugs obtained on the street and are monitored as they inject or smoke the drugs in an effort to prevent overdoses. Some sites also provide clean syringes, matches for cooking heroin, elastic strips to tie off veins, water to dilute drugs and other provisions.
