Love Pantera man. Will always be my favorite metal band..even if some consider them to mainstream. Don't care.

The question wasn't is he the best singer. It was is he the 'best lead man.' Sou don't have to be the best singer to be a great lead. You have to be an innovative and confident vocalist, which Phil most certainly is. You also have to consider the size of Pantera's influence. Metal is not a small genre and Pantera is easily one of the biggest influences in that Genre. If Vinnie and Dime were still alive, and Pantera had a reunion, it would be one of the biggest music moments in its time. So I say yes, he is the best lead.

Asked and well answered then. Thanks.

Is it really singing or just screaming? Walk on home, boy.

Sorry some pansies get mad about a simple and relevant question.

Lot of screaming.

As far as “hating” MTV culture, they actually capitalized on it and were part of an MTV contest in which the winner got to fly on Pantera’s plane with them to their next show or something like that.

Didn’t stop Pantera for teaming up with MTV for self promotion.

Of course, this is back when metal was a very relevant part of MTV.

That was fricking awesome. Especially the sing along to Walk. I can’t listen to that song without singing it.
