The Lt Governor was the President of the Senate, a position with tremendous power. Then, Edwin Edwards rewrote the Constitution to take that power away from a Lt. Gov that kept opposing him.

Such an immature generation of people we have before us who think they can wipe history clean by tearing down statues, and doing a disservice to the city of New Orleans in the process, and it’s very rich history. It’s reminiscent of ISIS tearing down statues and artifacts in Iraq. So, in essence, I guess we can say it’s the actions of terrorists and zealots. Hopefully, history will be very unkind to them for doing it as well.
