I seriously thought the talk about removing the statues was political grandstanding. I never thought he would actually do it.

So after someone gave me some cliffs notes on PGTB last night, I did some wiki research this morning, and yeah he's a pretty interesting guy who did some good for New Orleans. A successful chalmation, that deserves a statue by itself.
But I couldn't help but wonder if all this could have been avoided if he'd been portrayed as an engineer or a politician in the likeness instead of a Confederate general.
