I do think your transactional view of sex in a marriage is extremely jaded and cynical and that a marriage can be a really beautiful thing in which each person looks out for what the other needs and enjoys fostering the happiness of the other, and sometimes sex comes into play but it shouldn’t be framed as transactional IMO

I think it’s fairly clear we have cultivated a socially inept generation.

I think this generation definitely has slightly less sex than the generation before it.

The average person in said generation is having WAY LESS sex than the average person in previous generations.

A very small percentage of men and decent percentage of women are having WAY MORE sex than the average person in the previous generation.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a lack of effort. While there may be a sizable chunk that have given up, I don’t think it’s really that large. I think far more are trying (or think they are), failing, and getting nothing. I think that dating apps and hookup culture have so warped women’s perception of their own value that they have less than zero interest in the overwhelming majority of men, and those men have no idea how to appeal to those women. The men that do appeal to those women get as many as they want, and never commit (because why would they).

The reality is that feminism actually has resulted in a world where a small percentage of men get infinite consequence free sex from as many willing women as they want while women have to work and maintain a home AND raise any kids produced from this sex alone.
