Me too. My grandfather was an Officer for Pete's Half-Fast Walking Club. I was fortunate enough to walk on Mardi Gras Day with them as a banner boy growing up. Great memories.

The club even made a doubloon and put my grandfathers picture on a cup the Mardi Gras after he passed away. My brother, some cousins and I all walked in his honor that year.

RIP to a true legend.

Still have sitting on my shelf a Beer Stein from Pete's French Quarter Inn.

Post Katrina, when I traveled to the Mississippi gulf coast, I would catch him at the casino in Bay Saint Louis. It was always a treat to hear him.
RIP, Pete...oh, and enjoy your reunion with Jumbp !!!!!

CP I have a doubloon that Pete gave my dad many years back from the half fast walking club days.

I saw Pete in concert at the old LSU Fieldhouse many years ago. He and his band traveled in a large old black Cadillac back then. My best buddy and I each had a number of his albums and he stayed and signed everyone of them for us.
I played clarinet in both the BR Jr.& Sr. High bands because of the influence his playing had on me. RIP Pete!

True story about Pete-

He received a phone call from Ronald Reagan about 30 years ago. President Reagan wanted him to come play for him at an event at the White House...Pete kindly declined. "Sorry Mr. President, but I'm playing for the Pope."

PJPII was coming to New Orleans and his staff contacted Pete to play for the Pope.
