Pepsi is ditching Sierra Mist for a new Sprite rival

quote:

Pepsi’s internal research showed that “demand for lemon lime flavored soda has never been greater,” the company said in a statement. That prompted Pepsi to develop a new lemon-lime soda that gives “people a choice in an area that’s been dominated by one brand for years.”

Starry is caffeine-free and is rolling out with two options: regular and sugar free. A Pepsi spokesperson told CNN that Starry has a “higher citrus flavors that are true to fruit and more aromatic” compared to Sierra Mist.

Only time I ever got Sierra Mist was at Taco Bell, never bought it in a store. And now I remember a few years ago they went through a re-branding and called it Mist Twist, but then changed it back. I’m excited to try this.

I've already seen it in stores out here but haven't tried it. Never really felt like any of these drinks tasted like lemon/lime. Sprite and Sierra Mist just tasted like carbonated sugar water.

7up is better than all of them.

I was in the minority, of course, but I liked Crystal Pepsi when it was cola flavored. It failed as bad as "New Coke", but Pepsi didn't go all in.

They ultimately tried to reboot Crystal as a citrus beverage some months later and it also failed. I didn't like it as much, but it seems like something that comes around on their wheel of "to do" shite. "Make a clear soft drink winner."

They're still kicking themselves for losing 7up (at least domestically) to Dr. Pepper, I suppose.

Sierra Mist is not good, by the way.

Much like Coke, they probably just changed the branding...I know they said they changed the formula, but most likely not...

These companies have been playing us like a fiddle for almost 100 years.

Not the case here. It's definably different than Sierra Mist. It tastes like a caffeine free Mellow Yellow and it's pretty good

I don’t know if I’ve ever witnessed anyone actually choose to drink Sierra Mist if given the option over sprite. It’s only ever if a place only offers Pepsi products. I’ve never seen anyone have it at their house or buy it in a grocery store.

No doubt, the zero sugar is very good and I just got some cherry 7up zero that is delicious.

I could be mistaken but don’t those newer coke machines basically have a zero version of all the drinks?

In those machines you are just mixing the nutritious sweetener, I forget the exact name for it, for those instead of high fructose corn syrup that goes to all the non diet drinks.

They do have mellow yellow zero. There is just a shortage rt now because it isn’t their highest demand and have to focus on the more in demand products.
