Guy at work has a nice pot belly. Runs all the area competitions and shite. When they told me I thought they were fricking with me. He is always in the top of the group too.
It just looks so odd and he trains all the time. Has run consistently since leaving the Marines years ago.

Poor eating habits and or too much cardio
MFing this! When I started lifting weights I dropped about 20 pounds, and avoided carbs at least 3 full days a week.

Why dont you work on yourself instead of putting other people down. At least there working out.

Your clavicle, your hips, how your muscle inserts into the tendons, whether your symmetrical, and where your body stores fat all determines how you look.
You can work out and eat well religiously and you could still look less impressive than someone else who half-asses it.
Important: aesthetics are NOT the same thing as ability. Just because you don't look good doesn't mean you aren't good.
One guy that comes to mind is Al Kavadlo. He's strong as shite, and he looks great, but he doesn't have the best aesthetics imo. He's still a beast tho.
And, for the record, I think I have below average aesthetics.

I’d imagine age has a lot to do with the results as well. Older people who work out tend to look the same- as in they’re just trying to stay in shape, not necessarily compete.
And yes there are exceptions.

I worked at a gym right out of high school and you’d be surprised how many people go to the gym to socialize and bullshite for a little while.

I workout all the time but it’s so I can maintain the way I currently look and eat and drink whatever I want

I work out all the time and I don't ever see much difference in the way I look. However, I continue to get stronger and faster all the time. Genetics play a huge role in the way our bodies respond to exercise. This is a proven fact.

If I don’t follow a strict diet with a calorie ceiling, and follow a workout regimen that includes cardio and strength training, I won’t lose much fat, or total weight.
I maintain a steady weight if I have a halfassed diet and a halfassed workout.

There is this one chick who is in the gym everytime I go. I have seen her in there for three straight years. The other day in the grocery store she just so happens to get in the same checkout line as me. I was really surprised to see what she looked like in regular clothes which was a very average build for a woman. I could not tell one bit that she has ever had stepped foot in a gym from her appearance. Looked like a doughnut eating plain Jane.

I'll be honest. I probably fir that mold.
I've been working out for several years now (off and on...but mostly on), and I look normal as hell. You wouldn't be able to tell that I work out at all. 6'2, 195 lbs so I'm not 'fat'
I drink too much. Eat healthy food, but i have too high of portions. So all that works against me.
I look at it as working out to maintain my lifestyle

A lot of people don't know how important nutrition is. They think that eating healthy is a salad with a cup of ranch dressing over it.
