People who wear glasses - do you wear prescription swimming goggles?

When you swim? I wear regular speedo swim googles, but when I am at one end of the pool, I can't really make out faces of people at the other end. I can make out silhouettes, but the faces aren't clear. I am wondering if I should upgrade to prescription goggles? Are they expensive? Where can I get them from?

It's probably better to just wear contacts under the swim goggles.

I wear glasses all day and I swim once a day. But I don't get perscription goggles because I lose them to frequently. It's alright though, all i need too see is the black line

Hell no. Usually take off my glasses when in a pool. I don't need to see someone to hold a conversation.

Have missed a few sets of spectacular tittay's from what the wife tells me.

I didn't even know that was a thing. But I'm only mildly far-sighted.

I've never thought about that but you might be right.

OK, so I'm honestly taking the swimming advice of a black guy. An OT first.

I'm far-sighted, so I don't wear glasses when I swim. people's faces on the other side of the pool don't interest me, anyway. So long as I can see the crosses, I'm good.

I'm also a big fan of Sweds, but Speedo Vanquisher was a pretty good goggle and is available in prescription for under $20. I remember when the basic Vanquishers first came out and were $22-25.

Good way to get Acanthamoeba if you don't take them out and clean them immediately after swimming. I wouldn't recommend swimming in contact lenses.

Contacts and goggles. Doesn't matter what kind of goggles. I been wearing Sweedes for ~31 years of competitive swimming. Been wearing contacts for a solid 25 years now. I take them out and clean/soak every night, but rarely immediately after I swim. Never a problem and I've been in some funky pools and water holes over the years.

Contacts and goggles. Why do you need to make out more than a silhouette when you're swimming unless you're racing?

I like to have crystal clear vision while swimming exercise/workouts. Its nice to see the walls right and what's going on around me. As well as the pace clock, which I use religiously. Everything I do is on intervals or pace.

Thanks for the info on the Speedo Vanquisher. Do you know if it is possible to get different prescriptions for the left and right eyes? I need different corrections for them.

In the past when I've looked into this, and this is admittedly years and years ago, they recommended that you buy two pairs and criss-cross them so that you had the right Rx in each eye (one pair will have upside down logos).

How far apart are your two eyes in diopters? If less than 1.5, I would order something in between. These aren't for you to have 20/20 vision and be able to read books. They're so you can see what's going on around you pretty decently and see a pace clock.

I got rx goggles a few years ago, never really got used to using them. I also feel really awkward wearing glasses too, though. I swim 4 mornings a week and just wear contacts under goggles. Other than the goggles being awkward, my contacts always kinda burned putting them in after swimming, which made me have to wear glasses to work. So yeah.

I always wear my contacts, even if I'm swimming at the pool or at the beach.
