i routinely back in but never when there are cars behind me. i agree that is rude. my reason for backing in is for when i am pulling out of the space, so i can see both ways clearly. my car does not have clear views out of its back seat or rear windows. so, show some empathy and go around them when you can. i'm sure they aren't backing in for their kicks and joys.

I'd love to see this sign at game day if they're in Tuscaloosa for the game

Backing in is the smart and safe way to park.
However it does drive me crazy in the parking garage at work every day when theres a line of 20 cars behind someone struggling to back into a spot on the 2nd level when they could go to the 5th level and have all the time in the world to back in. That I think is rude as f.

The next time this happens, you should address it with the driver instead of pulling your phone out of your purse and posting about it on TD.

While I don't back in because I know how to drive, there is logic in keeping the pivot point (front wheels) out in the area with the most room to work for as long as you can parking and getting them there as soon as you can leaving rather than putting and keeping the pivot point in the actual space for most of the time while parking.

You can't defend your position. It's actually one upon which reasonable minds cannot differ.

I understand backing in is safer. But it's easier for me to back out of a spot into a lane than into a tiny spot
I still don't get why a lot of people do it. I've never had to make a quick getaway and wished I would've parked facing out

I back into spots probably 50% of the time, but I don't get it either when people say they are doing it in case they need to exit quickly. WTF are people doing that would make that necessary?

you either back in, or back out. one is not better than the other, and backing in causes more traffic snarls than backing out.

it's inherited. i actually tried a case against the farm for an accident caused by some lady backing in, who clipped a relative. Maybe it was two women drivers.

FWIW, I downvoted you and went to my truck and turned it around in the parking spot.
