It's a courtesy acknowledgement.

Personally, I save all that shite to a file in case a fricker ever says they never received something.

No, it's great having the confirmation that they received, read, and acknowledged whatever it is you sent them.

At least it lets the sender know you saw the email.

Seems a bit much.

At my company deleted emails stick around 6 months, I think that's good enough.

I'll stop commenting on this thread. In general, it's no big deal so it was a dumb thread to start.

There are a ton of other annoying things that she does that would add more color to why I am vexed by something as trivial as this, but anyway I'll stop using the OT as my diary for today.

Not really. Some industries have legally mandated retention obligations.

You mean the 5 whole extra seconds it adds?

If that's the case, seems like you'd just put a read receipt on every email you send out.

I. Actually like when I get some type of written documentation that they received my email. Then I can save for CYA,later when boss plays dumb and pulls the....you never sent me those docs..not only do I have my sent mail, but I have written prof that boss acknowledged them. Fwiw.

People who acknowledge emails are better than people who complain about trivial shite

So, you have a 60 year-old woman "grooming" you? Hmmm...

Wow that must be such a shitty place to work where your boss tells you "thanks!"

Hmm, who knew?

Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of the entire thing it's meant to do?

My boss constantly does this. She sits behind me and verbally acknowledges when she receives files I send, yet 1 minute later I get an email with nothing other than "thanks!"

Why? Just more shite for me to delete.

You'll never be a manager/leader of anyone.

There's nothing to cover. It's a file. Often one she could have pulled herself.

You can use it against her if she says she never got it. "You acknowledged receiving it."
