This has gone beyond just being a pet peeve. I'm not talking about hands free talking on the phone. I'm talking about texting, surfing the web, and checking and posting on social media. I've commented before about the number of times that I have to swerve right to avoid cars moving into or in my lane on two lane highways. I've found it very prevalent on interstates, too. It seems fairly easy to determine cause in alcohol related accidents, but what about accidents caused by the drivers I've described? Do you think that the penalties for distracted driving should be stiffened? If so, to what degree?

This is really fun on the Causeway. Two lanes above a lake for 22 miles. You would think that the attachment to the phone could be put on hold for 20 minutes. People are glued to it.

I agree, it's ignorant. Hell you might as well be drinking and driving. People who are on cells while driving deserve to be in wrecks. They are going to hurt or kill someone.

Technology will be the end of us. Maximum Overdrive used the wrong kind of machines.

Legit had someone 40 yards or less cross from their lane to mine today head on at @ 45 mph, only to regain and swerve back. Saw their head pop up when they swerved back.

Dumbasses.

The best part of my drive home from work is getting to drink a beer and go through my texts from the day. It is relaxing.

(I dont really do this)

I couldn’t agree more, but...

By the way...

How in the hell do so many people driving newer luxury cars especially not know how to utilize blue tooth technology, when I know good an damn well they have that at their disposal, yet still continue to put that devise up to their ears?

And the endless texting, perusing the internet, and even watching video on the phone while driving down the road is so fricken out of hand, it’s ridiculous. I see it everywhere all day long, and how I know is they’re the ones not going when the light turns green, or driving like old people fricking down the road without any sense of purpose or care for anyone around them.

It should become a serious offense punishable by serious consequences. You are risking your own life and everyone around you. Literally nothing these days pisses me off more

I totally undertand ya High C. Living out here in CA if you're not on your phone while driving you're in the minority. Way too many close calls to count anymore. Myself and the family use the DND feature while driving and I tell my work baws to do the same.

Just use your knee to steer. I was skeptical when I first heard it but it really works.

I can hear the charges now when you run someone down:

DA: The defendant is charged with one count of Netflix and Kill.
