My wife loves doing yard work which translates into me doing what yard work she wants done

Mowing and edging the lawn and gardening allow me to take pride in what I've worked for. My home and how it looks is representative of me and I want it to look nice so I do what it takes to make that happen.

Plus, microbes in the soil have been shown to have the same impact as antidepressants.

That said, Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings in the spring and summer and Saturday mornings in the fall and winter.

This. Same theory I have about washing my car. Throw in some headphones, put my phone on mute, and put the world on pause.

Gives me time to think.

I did five hours yesterday, felt good and slept like a baby.

Part of that was the 18 pack I drank while working

It's a good way to day drink without guilt

Depends on the type of yardwork. Scooping up dogshit, cleaning out a gutter, etc sucks. But doing some sort of project to improve something is enjoyable to me. Spent the entire weekend a few weeks ago giving the garden a facelift. It was exhausting, but it looks 10x better than it did before and it feels really good to look at it and know I did that. I've even had some neighbors walk up to me and comment on how good it looks ( I know, I know, how lame and stereotypical white suburban America does that sound, right?)

In the next weekend or two I plan on building a firepit in my backyard. And it will probably be a lot of heavy lifting, but it's gonna be awesome when it's done.

Basically, I'm not a huge fan of the repetitive, routine maintenance part, i.e. the weekly cutting, raking leaves, etc. But I love big projects

I love doing it myself, but I don’t judge others that pay a service to do it. I save my judgment for those that don’t do either.

I found a lawn company who charges me a rate I couldn't pass up. The way I look at it, while they are only at my house for 45 mins, there are 3 of them. If I did exactly what they did, it would take me about 2:15, it's better use to pay someone to do it.

My dad always told us- keep your land and house nice and clean as if someone may knock on your door willing to pay cash on the spot. he’s a really smart guy so I took that advice.

I dont love it. BUT, I do take pride in all my possessions and my house is one of my proudest possessions. No one and I mean no one will ever take care of your things better than you will.

I’m proud of my house and the fact I have a yard to work in. That combined with the instant gratification of it, and I love yard work.

I wouldn't say I love it, but lawn tractors do come with beer holders for a reason.

What is it that people LOVE to do yard work?

If you don't understand the fulfillment that comes from busting open a 12 pack, doing some manual labor and basking in the joy of a job well done, then what is it with you?
