People suck. Someone explain to me why a school would do this?

Teenager dies three weeks before graduation of a rare cancer. The school did not do anything to honor her at graduation - that sucks, but whatever.

Her classmates honored her by writing messages outside the school with chalk. They were power washed away and the superintendent made an arse of himself by threatening to suspend and have kids arrested for writing chalk messages to honor their dead classmate.

I just don't understand. I don't understand why you wouldn't have a moment of silence or an empty seat or something at graduation, but I really am bothered by the way the school acted toward the chalk messages.

quote:

When the student claimed the parent would not be complying either, the superintendent is then heard saying, “Well, that’s when the police will arrest you for trespassing. I suspend you, and you come back, you will be under trespassing.”

“I’m trying to be nice here about this,” the superintendent then said.

Either she turned him down or it's because she's white.

That's terrible. When my class graduated, we all wore pins on our gowns honoring a classmate who had died when we were in 8th grade.

Just plain old mean miserable motherfrickers in this world. I hope that dude dies slowly and painfully in front of people that love him.

Honoring her at graduation would have been nice, like an honorary diploma or something.

Getting pissy about chalk outside is just childish. My god, it will wash away next time it rains.

What the frick is wrong with that dude?

Is there more to the story than this?

If not, they need to tar and feather that a-hole on his way out of town.

Some of the worst petty tyrants with delusions of grander to ever walk this planet are school administrators. This a-hole is a prime example.

I have gotten to the point that I expect superintendents and principals to be insufferable assholes.

It really would not have been honorary. It was very likely that they already had it printed and she completed the requirements. She died three weeks before the ceremony.

A girl died in a car wreck at my high school when we were in 11th grade. We had an empty seat for her where she would have been in alphabetical order at every senior event.
