Me. My longest round trip is 140 miles. That’s from Metairie to BR.

You asked me to explain why I thought it was better than an ICE vehicle except for endurance and refueling. It accelerates far faster and is faster. It has far fewer moving parts so is mechanically simpler. For this and other reasons it requires less maintenance.

Another poster mentioned towing(Who tows with a car) and weight (I don’t know or care how much they weigh.) Lastly, he mentioned looks. Maybe. They all look about equal to me.

I will never have an electric car unless I am absolutely forced to.. but I’m sure I’ll be gone by then.

Same shite, different day with these threads. If you want an EV, go nuts. The government should not be trying to force this on the entire fricking country. End of story. All the other bickering is just for the sake of bickering.

For me an EV will likely never be plausible unless the tech improves dramatically. I tow a boat and horse trailer pretty often along the gulf coast.

I recently read that humans only produce 2% of what some scientist fear is causing "global warming".

I heard on the news this morning, they were talking about how it is and this statement was said "and its only going to keep getting hotter every summer".

Really?

Evidently between the 1960s - 1990s there was some type of weather situation that kept the oceans cooler than usual and when it went away in the late 90s it was the cause of more stronger hurricanes. Remember after Katrina they were talking about the earth is getting hotter and it will cause stronger and stronger hurricanes? Well it really had nothing to do with "global warming".

Anytime there is something being pushed there is always financial interest behind it. I guess it really doesn't matter what a vehicle runs off of as long as it has the same power, but right now... Its a lot easier and less time consuming to go to the gas station than to charge car batteries.

Lol
OP started this thread posing this question. Every single person who owned an EV that answered in this thread stated saving the world wasn't remotely on their list of reasons to buy an EV.

Will OP change his mind or keep blindly believing what he wants to fit his narrative?

"lol"

Did you get this from Super Freakonomics?

While it's true that our co2 emissions are much smaller than natural emissions, dismissing that as insignificant ignores the fact that the natural sources and sinks of co2 are generally in balance, and that our emissions tip the scales.

The various natural sources (the oceans, volcanoes, fires, etc) are constantly emitting co2, and the natural sinks (plants, etc) are constantly absorbing co2. As a result the co2 in the atmosphere stays about the same level as each molecule is temporarily there before it is absorbed at some point in the future. Any increase in emissions causes the amount in the atmosphere at any given time to accumulate until the natural sinks can catch up and level it off again.

As an example, say you have $300 in your bank account. You earn $1,000 per year (natural co2 source in this example), and your expenses are $1,000 per year (co2 sink in this example). Your bank account will remain at $300 forever. You get a tiny 2% raise (our co2 emissions) so your income is $1,020, but your expenses remain the same. Your bank account will grow by $20 every year.

As it happens, natural sinks do actually soak up maybe half of our emissions in addition to the natural ones, but that still leaves half to accumulate in the atmosphere.

That goes for everyone. If someone frames our co2 contribution as insignificant, they are purposely ignoring the impact it has. There is plenty of money behind the anti-EV and anti- climate change agendas.

Nope, but your post didn't bother to try to parse that out, it was clear you were incorrectly inferring it was free everywhere.

I'm still wondering if you've changed your mind from your thoughts in the OP to what you learned in this thread from every EV owner who has responded contrary to your original opinions

Yeah, no. The reason I got an EV was so my wife could run her errands in town which is about 20 miles away. She goes back and forth and back and forth multiple times a week. And I go back and forth. Just like an air conditioned, oversized golf cart. Back and forth.

Seeing these EV commercials. They really be getting people to think to themselves that they are doing their part to save the world?

I drive one, and I don't think this way. I don't see it as a political statement, just an incredible vehicle that I love to drive. I am a conservative.

Insanity can be collective. Mass psychosis or mass delusion.

People would rather be popular and agreeable than correct.

2 more responses, surely the OP is going to return to this thread to tell us he now has an understanding of why folks are buying EVs that is different from what he thought when he started this thread, right? RIGHT???

People are telling you in this thread why they're buying an EV, and it has nothing to do with what you quoted, but tell us more about "insanity" and "mass delusion" and being correct.

I'm disappointed, I was absolutely certain the OP was going to come back to this thread to admit his opinions were off base.

I just never saw this coming from that poster, thought we could totally trust him.
