I just moved here in March. I rented a place on Galt Ocean as I wanted to be able to park on Friday and not have to drive anywhere. I can walk to Lauderdale By the Sea or pay $10 and Lyft over to Las Olas.

I moved here from Gulf Shores area...have another year until my wife can join me though..which was another reason for where I chose to live.

Hollywood Beach and Dania Beach are pretty nice as well.

If you have more specific questions let me know.

Nice area, great schools....but way too far west if he wants to go to the beach.

I have a buddy that just moved from Dania Beach. They loved it. His wife got one of those little scooters and used that for her main mode of transport. There was not enough traffic to concern her. It is a sleepy, hidden gem.

It is also damned close to FLL.

Fort Lauderdale. If you are going to buy a house and can afford it, any neighborhood in the city “East of U.S. 1...Federal Highway” is fine. Bring some money. No more than a mile or less to the beach, low crime and generally plenty of commercial stuff within walking or a short drive.

Boca Raton in a country club community. Houses are comparatively cheap (400k for a very nice home). Catch is you have to join the club. 30-70k up front and monthly dues. Well worth it, though. You’re welcome.

Op please tell me you aren’t buying a house? Never buy a house when you first move to an area. Rent someone and learn the area for a year.

Martin County is awesome unless it’s too far away for you.

They live in Hollywood Lakes about 1 mile from beach. Nice older homes. 3b/3b for around 550,000. Renovated. Close to everything.
10,000 per year for home insurance including huricane.

Coral Ridge neighborhood in Ft. Lauderdale would be my number one choice.

Weston is nice, but more of the family/good schools/golf vibe as opposed to a beach vibe.

Broward - I would consider Coconut Creek or Parkland.

Palm Beach County- Delray Beach!

We thought about this and have been teetering back and forth. We spent a little time down there a month ago and are doing the same in a couple weeks. We have been studying the area and will do so again before buying.
