People get married way too quickly

A friend of mine just got engaged to a girl he met 10 months ago..they only started dating like 8 months ago. You can't know a person well enough to marry them in that short of a period. Some of my other friends have also gotten married to women they've only known for a short period of time. There's no way I'm going to get married to somebody until I've known them for at least 2 years. Thoughts?

You might be right. But this is about getting married too quickly. I think people should wait until their early to mid 30's. That way, you skip the first divorce. lol GFY

Married my current wife a week after meeting. Of course I was drunk and having a damn good time. I don't regret it.

I actually agree as well.
But marriage is a damn good social construct. If you find a girl you're willing to commit to, it can lead to much satisfaction.

I'm not part of the "don't get married" crowd but I am in the crowd that thinks a lot of people are getting married too early/young. And I do think you should live together first as well. I mean why not?

This. I know a couple who got engaged three days after they met and have been married for 37 years.
I wouldn't jump in quite that fast. But I also wouldn't set an arbitrary timeline. I know exactly what I want and I just have to find it.

Yep. The first. The second incarnation of an S/O and I never married, just lived together for three years. but yeah, I kind of suck at monogamy. Doing ok this time.
