Whenever I get a call in a waiting room or any public area, I ALWAYS excuse myself and take it outside. It doesn't matter what it's about. It could be my wife calling to ask if lasagna is OK for dinner. I take it outside to say "Yeah, that's fine, see you at home".
To add to this convo, it drives me up a wall when I have to listen to someone's convo AND they are blatantly wrong about whatever it is they're talking about. The other day the person behind me in the checkout line at the grocery was on the phone talking to someone about the LSU-TAMU game saying something along the lines of "Yeah I heard it went to 5 overtimes, that's crazy. But I think LSU supposedly threw an INT that should've ended the game, so LSU was lucky they even got to OT." It took every ounce of willpower not to turn around and scream at this guy and then take the phone and tell the person on the phone not to listen to his ignorant friend

Unless you're talking to your kids or have phone sex I have no idea why anyone facetimes (ever, anywhere)

I FaceTime with my friend and his kid, but that’s it and only because the kid likes it (he’s 3).

The worst is the dumbfrick cashier at the gas station facetiming, talking about nothing, and you can't tell if they're addressing you or the dumbfrick kn the other end of the line.

I’ve had an Uber driving FaceTiming with his SO. It was fricking weird, he also wrote down our address on a notepad. Bitches be crazy, they weren’t even talking, she was just watching him.

It's the doctor's fault if they're being kept waiting, yes.

They absolutely know what they are doing.
It is a status symbol, believe it or not.
It stems from fake shows like real housewives, kardashians, etc. where the women always talk on speakerphone. this is done so the phone convo can be heard by the boom mics.
I think speakerphone/facetime in public is THE single trashiest trend going right now. Its usually 30 and below females, and appears to be lower income.

So that means they're allowed to annoy everyone around them?

If the doctor would see them at the appointed time then this wouldn't be a problem.
It's the facetimer trash that's 45 minutes late for their appointment, get pissy when the front tells them their too late for their appointment and pitch a fit to get worked in causing everyone else to be late. Depending on the hospital systems policy and what they're being seen for they might be required to be worked in.
