Travelling on a 4 lane road in town with turning lane. I have to get in the left lane from right to make a left turn across traffic in a quarter mile. This is a heavily trafficed area, red lights at every other intersection. There is a guy coming up in the left lane but a hundred yards back at least. He was going 60-70MPH in a 45 ( which I realized after getting over ) He was obviously enraged I changed lanes, but the light coming up in front of us was already yellow when I switched. He whips it over to pass me in the right lane and run the red light. The road at the intersection has a turning lane that merges with the road we are on if you want to turn right, there is a van going through the now green light for him which he clips the front end of as enraged truck driver runs the red light. People flying up in a lane I'm about to merge into is why I absolutely love my blind spot cameras. Saved my arse from getting rear ended many a time

Years ago a very similar thing happened to me, except instead of running the light the rager that whipped around me rear ended a state trooper stopped at the light.

Driving a big truck? I see at least one idiot per day in a big truck driving like a fricking lunatic. Usually multiple.

Was traveling to work in Sugar Land on SW freeway in Houston middle lane at around 10am.. Multiple lanes empty and some frickstick on my azz to the point I can't see his headlights.
Spotted a grocery cart ahead in the middle lane, maintained position until we were 15 yards or so from it. Veered over and enjoyed his wide-eyed reaction as he missed it by inches. He likely shat a brick.

Had a guy do something similar to me one day in Montgomery Al. I was in an 18 wheeler stopped on the shoulder of the road (lunch at Popeyes
). I accelerate in order to merge into the right hand lane. Guy in a pick up I guess decides he doesn't want the semi in front of him, so he quickly cuts me off. Unfortunately he didn't see the stopped traffic at a light ahead and rear ends a guy. As I pass I just look and shake my head

Had a very similar thing happen to me several years ago visiting friends in Charleston, SC. Headed to lunch after they picked me up from the airport, and we were approaching a light in the left lane as it was turning yellow. The kid behind us didn't want to wait through the coming red light, so he whipped around us into the left turn lane to run the yellow light.
Well, there was a van in the left turn lane of the opposite direction who, like many drivers do, decided to use the yellow time to make a yield - left turn just as this kid was charging through.
Van nailed the front left side of the kid's car and sent him spinning across the intersection in front of us and came to rest on the side of the road. Luckily, he didn't hit anyone it he process.

This doesn’t apply to your situation, but I’m constantly checking all my rear view mirrors, and try my best to monitor all the vehicles and traffic around me. It’s an instinctual learned behavior to spot the outlier driver. You have to have your head on a swivel these days,
That goes for the A-hole in the truck as well. He has to know this was a busy area with cars pulling onto and off the road and switching lanes to make turns. Cars coming from all directions, and he’s driving like he’s on an open highway.

So you didn't check your mirror closely enough to know this before you pulled out in front of him?

He had to get over to make his turn, and the light was turning red. If that guy hadn't have been traveling over 15-25 over the speed limit and then ran a red light, it wouldn't have been a problem.

In Florida, there are so many insane driving stories that you forget about 90% of the stories.

I saw two assholes getting into it on 610 a couple months back. One laying on the horn, the other constantly brake checking the other person and getting out of the car to yell at them. After a few minutes of that the last brake check caused and 18 wheeler to plow right through both of them.

I have similar stories.

I certainly did check my mirror, I looked and saw a truck about 75 yards behind me and we were coming up on a yellow light seconds from turning red.

The whole surround view system is incredible. I can see everything, in real time, I can avoid obstacles I would miss otherwise, the bird's eye view. One of my favorite features

The surround view with trailer package is amazing on my 1500.
First time I hooked up trailer few days after getting truck and turned on signal I had no idea WTH was going on but I loved the views.

Hands down the worst driver in the world is an old man wearing a hat. From experiences driving on I-10 in N.O. and anywhere in Lafayette. Counting himself, no one on the road with has any idea where he mite go.
