It should go without saying, but there is a reason the market cap of a company who says they have a vaccine for MERS, Ebola, Zika, and COVID-19 is only ~$400MM.

These Chinese numbers are untrustworthy. I'm going to just sit back and see what happens to the international cases to see where this is gonna go from here.

Do we have a demographic breakdown on infections, deaths, recoveries?

There was when there were 40 of them. Exhaustively so.

You're fricked if you're Wuhanian, concerned if you're Chinese, following if you're Caucasian, and immune if you're black or South American.

This is not the first time that I have wished that I was black.

San Diego County has just declared an immediate local emergency and public health emergency re: coronavirus. Supervisor Nathan Fletcher insists it is not because of an increased risk to public. 2 local cases currently. Declarations open up options for funding and resources.
Apparently, this is like declaring a disaster before a hurricane hits.

In order to open up the possibility of greater resources for conducting local quarantine operations connected to novel coronavirus, San Diego county public health officials declared health and local emergencies Friday afternoon.
The action, which must be ratified by the county board of supervisors approval on Feb. 19, is similar to one taken by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 3 and renewed for an additional 30 days on Feb. 10. If approved, it would provide the county’s public health department with additional abilities to seek state reimbursement for the costs of examining, testing and following up with people in the community who are at increased risk of corona infection and also makes it easier to request help from other government agencies to conduct ongoing quarantine operations.
County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher emphasized that formally calling the current situation — one in which there is no evidence that the virus is spreading locally — an emergency does not mean anything has changed on the ground. Today, the only two confirmed cases of novel coronavirus, which the medical community has taken to calling COVID-19, are two people who arrived in San Diego last week on evacuation flights out of China and who have been sitting in isolation rooms at UC San Diego Health facilities since they first started showing symptoms.
“To be clear, today’s action does not signify any increase in risk to the residents of San Diego County,” Fletcher said.
Didn't realize another county already did this.

It’s probably the best way to transfect mammalian cells in vivo.
Yes, I am aware of this in vivo. But as I’m sure you know, and indicated, not everything in vivo works in vitro. In fact it’s a perfect choice for snake oil because they can point to the in vivo studies as evidence when it’s not.
I’m not saying it won’t work. I’m just saying this company has a lot of red flags.
They had a vaccine in 3 hours and use a technique no one else is using when the CDC predicts it will be a year before a vaccine... hmmmm

Um. I think you have them flipped.
In vivo is in a whole, biological setting. Analogous in context to “real world”.
In vitro is on a lab artificial setting. Cells in a Petri dish type thing

Interesting analysis that is not too surprising if true...

You would think the CCP would be smarter than that. Expect the numbers to start to vary more once the world knows their numbers are a fraud.
Also makes that previous story about much larger numbers “accidentally” posting on a government website.
It ticks me off how much the WHO backs the numbers and reporting coming from the CCP.

Anomalies had shown up in China’s coronavirus numbers even before the change in methodology. For instance, the number of deaths reported appeared to correspond to a simple mathematical formula to a very high accuracy, according to a quantitative-finance specialist who ran a regression of the data for Barron’s. A near-perfect 99.99% of variance is explained by the equation, this person said, referring to a statistical measure known as r-squared. That’s a fancy way of saying that the data updating the number of deaths was almost perfectly predictable. “This never happens with real data, which is always noisy,” the person said.

That is hilarious.
I will say though if this is true, I suspect they are just attempting to overly normalize the data. For it to be an abject fabrication you wouldn’t see them come back with revised/corrected numbers after initial release like they have done a few times.
Although the biggest thing I’d love to know is why exactly did they fire the guy in charge over the response. Not the public reason, the actual reason.

Wow that is insane. So basically they are saying the numbers could be entirely fabricated, and the result of a mathematical equation. That’s a bold claim.
Volvagia, you are 100% correct. Brain was thinking one thing hands were typing the other.
