Here is the fancy pattern.
I wouldn't mind paying taxes so much if I got to decide how to spend it.
This 28 million is just a drop in the wasteful spending bucket.

John Sopko is truly the hero we need but not the one we deserve.

Based on the stories that come out of Florida, I would think that maintaining law and order in that state must be exponentially more expensive than the national average.

The real crime was committed by whoever decided on the ACU pattern for the US Army.

Wasting govt money is likely my biggest pet peeve, but this simply looks like political grandstanding. These soldiers already have a target on their backs and it has nothing to do with camo patterns. The Taliban fights in black and they seem to be doing just fine.

“I mean they’re walking around with a target on their backs, ‘Shoot me.’ Because only 2% of the country is forest woodland, and that’s the outfit that the Afghan minister picked.”
They should concentrate on that 2% and really dominate the area.
Gotta play to your strengths.

This is not WW2 and sending shite to the South Pacific takes weeks. Just makes my head explode. Poor guys.
Actual CSB,
My uncle is a CPA and his office folks were always sending me stuff when I was in Afghanistan. He heard it through the grapevine that soldiers were requesting A/C window units for the tents. Luckily, the tents our platoon inherited already had them when we got there. But he was legit taking up collections and was about to send us half a dozen window units.

True. Can you imagine the crime stories coming out of Louisiana if the population there was 20 million like Florida.

You want to know what is even more shitty..That rifle looks like the one that I had with me in Iraq. Just as old and rattly as you could imagine. Then again the Marines always get the shite equipment.
Posted on 6/21/17 at 10:52 am to suavecito80
Don't y'all get off on being under-supplied and ill equipped?
Figured y'all could've improved your supply and acquisition procedures after almost two and a half centuries.

Which makes it even more bad arse how much shite gets done with all that shitty equipment. So yes we do get off on it.
Posted on 6/21/17 at 11:01 am to suavecito80
Just seems like y'all would try to be more efficient in order to get the better/more supplies. If you're good with shitty stuff, imagine how good you would be with better/more supplies.

was marked up 4 times before it was sold to the government. It's really amazing with all of the bid/solicitation regulations that this is able to occur.
I'm not saying you're lying but if that's the truth, they could be prosecuted if it were pursued. The US Gov has a provision that they must receive the best pricing available on any single product sold, particularly commodities and software.
The clause is Favored Nations

Not sure how that works, but if that markup is approved in each of those companies' contracts, then how is that illegal?

Contract Officer error. Most of the time it's not suppliers who fail, but the government themselves. The clause is supposed to ensure the US Gov is always receiving the most fair and equitable price available, specifically on non services and non-construction contracts. It applies to basically widgets or defined end products.
It is supposed to safeguard the government from overpaying for any particular item, but if nobody is watching the store, then there's no point to the clause.

That seems like one of those things that's never prosecuted in and of itself but rather thrown in with a slew of other charges.

I wonder who got the kickback.
Guy Kramer is the one who got rich off of this and anyone that believes the "they found the pattern on the internet" story is a fool. This was manipulated from the get-go after Kramer lost the bid to do the US Army uniforms to Crye. Whether this was a deal he worked with the Afghans directly or a consolation prize from his guys in the US army is a toss up.
