Kind of a similar story as to how I have a cat. The ex wanted one when we were living together and I said "sure, why not" even though I was always a dog person. I had no idea how loyal cats can be, especially Siamese to one or two people that raise them.
Well this one took a particular liking to me to the point that the cat was very clearly depressed and miserable when we broke up and I moved out; I had to go back and get her. Needless to say I was a single dude with a cat for a good while there, but the cat is awesome and I don't regret it one bit. Now let me have it for owning a cat haters.
