Pensacola Beach shutdown until April 2nd

Escambia County on Friday ordered that Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key Beach close to the public, effective at midnight Friday, until April 2.
After more than three and a half hours of discussion at a special meeting Friday, the Escambia County Commission voted unanimously to close all public areas of the county's beaches.
Violating an emergency order during a declared state emergency is a misdemeanor offense.
The board also voted unanimously to have the Bob Sikes toll go to all-electronic collections immediately, a move that was initially planned for April.
In additional, the county is also asking Gulf Islands National Seashore and the state of Florida to close its beaches on both Santa Rosa Island and Perdido Key.

They closed the beaches by our house in Walton County. It’s private so they can’t keep us off the sand but they closed the water so no one will be out there anyway. Double Red flags. The wife and kids will be coming back home today because there is nothing left to do out there.

It's about time.
Many people willing to travel to go to a public beach right now are likely the same ones at higher risk of spreading infection all along their path since they've probably been ignoring most other common sense precautions.

Probably so, but if I were to bring my own groceries and stay away from people while on the beach, I don't see what the big deal is.
If I drive a few hours away and go camping in the woods, is that considered a horrible thing just because I had to travel to do it?

My brother and some friends who live in Pensacola (where I'm from by the way) said the beach and everything around it was very crowded last weekend.
Basically people not doing like what you --or any other seemingly level-headed person -- would do is the issue.
