In.

Just not sure where we're going to watch.

Started another thread about it before I saw this one.

I am in Gulf Breeze actually visiting old USMC buddies.

I have seen the show a couple times. It is awesome, but we are not getting in that traffic today! We went to the Drowsy Poet coffee shop on the beach at 6am...the traffic was backed up for a mile already!

Where's the best place to anchor a boat to watch the show?

Just looked at the beach cam. Way too many people on that beach for my taste.

My BIL heard this from a local.

Is anywhere on the bay side behind Ft. Pickens good or across the inlet from the fort?

As much as I love the beach show, I hate the crowds and the traffic, so I usually hold out for the Homecoming Show. Instead; I'm working overtime in the 911 center, watching the weather, and hoping the storms hold off for you guys.

If I could find a way to sit at the Frisky Dolphin and drink all day and night for the show, I might reconsider the Beach Show...

How does the homecoming show in November compare to this one?
I've seen the blue angels on a boat in Seattle and on their practice deal a the base and would love to do it on Pensacola beach, but I don't do crowds very well.

Then you want nothing to do with the Pensacola show bc the traffic is REALLY BAD. I put up with the before and after drive bc I really enjoy the show.

I've always wondered who pays for those shows. Is it the city?

Here's a not so secret secret for those who want to see the show on the beach but avoid the traffic. The week of the air show at the beach, the Blues fly a practice show on Thursday over the beach, there is a rehearsal of the entire air show [all acts] including the Blues on Friday, then the official show Saturday,

Last year, we watched the Thursday performance from the beach in front of the condo, the Friday air show from a boat on the bay side and for Saturday, we walked down to the pier/Hampton Inn, ["show central"] and stood right at the center point at the water just for the Blues portion.

Each view was different and enjoyable. The bay side was awesome. It was shallow enough that we planted chairs and umbrellas in a sand bar and sat in the water in the shade to watch. The absolute best view, however, was standing right at show central right in the front [would never want to "plant" our chairs and umbrellas there though -- too crowded].

The homecoming show is great, especially if you are willing to shell out a few bucks for reserved or VIP seating. When you do that you are on the flight line, you have guaranteed good seats, and most of the heavy crowd is behind your. Also, the weather for the homecoming show is cooler and everything seems to just flow much smoother. All and all, I just find it a much more pleasant experience than the beach show.
That's not to take away anything from the beach show, to me you just need somewhere at the beach show to escape the crowds and heat; so if you have a condo or hotel room you are in good shape.

The bay is defenitely not the best view. We are on the beach in front the Hilton every year. Hard to beat that

They did a new turn and burn Saturday that they've never done before. It was loud as shite. The crowd never bothers us but we have about 70 people every year so I guess we just don't feel crowded by people we don't know.

Was in Gulf Shores 7/1 thru yesterday. Went over Friday afternoon to catch the "dress rehearsal". The stunts we saw on the far west end of beach was great...
