Was this house owned by the Manships at one time?

Yes I believe so. First house on right when you pass TJ Ribs after the light headed north

That house was ugly and in disrepair. Someone bought it to build

They fooled a lot of people, they bought a used Ford Crown Vic, put some antennas on it along with cop style hubcaps, and blacked out windows. The house guy would move it around the driveway, and run errands in it. They did have a actually Sheriff Deputy there for a while after the attempted kidnapping of their grandson Claude. They got the Crown Vic after that.

Doc Pennington built the house around 1957-58 and lived in it until he died, the family never sold it.

Any pics of the house? If it's the one I'm thinking of I always thought it was a great example of mid-century modern. Looked architect built. But I haven't been that way in years to see what condition it might be in.

I just went there the other day. They were taking the stucco off the roof.
Why did it go out of use? It was a beautiful house. One of the doors were open and I wandered around the apartment for a bit

House used to have a Christmas Tree year-'round in the big front window.

The apartment, to the right, is what I walked in. Perfectly clean. 2 bedrooms, a sun room and a kitchen/living room.
Would have been nice for a caretaker with a child and a wife.

Doc Pennington and his wife both lived to their late 90s, and a caretaker did live there for a lot of their later years. After they both died the family didn't want to get rid of the house after he died, and used it for storage, and kept spare vehicles there. I am guessing someone in the family is going to build there, probably one of the Great Grand kids.

Why on earth tear the house down? It was a lovely mid-century architecture, that could have been remodeled.
Now i’m Sure it will be replaced with some modern gauche monstrosity
