My work experience paid off because I didn't study but maybe 5 hours

The key to passing that test is ace the morning section and get by in the afternoon. I wish LAPELS would tell you what score you get rather than just pass/fail. They didn't a couple years ago at least

The morning portion was more difficult than the afternoon IMO

Yeah I did about 2-3. Really went through the Lindeburg manual and worked a TON of problems. Becoming familiar with what types of questions are asked and how to quickly locate supporting material is key IMO
