Nasty, but still tiny and less powerful than Typhoon Tip. Reached 870mb, 190mph sustained winds and was larger than the continental US is north to south.

Yes, but Tip didn't hit land at that strength and size; this one will be the most powerful storm to ever hit land. Tip landed on Okinawa as barely a cat 1 Hurricane.

T numbers are just ridiculous. 8.1 and 8.2 across the board.

Landfall should be this evening as a Category 5. I really hope the increased shear coming will weaken it a little. That and maybe tap some dry air over Mexico. Few things kill a cane quicker than evaporative cooling.

Recon in a couple of hours but this has to be close to peaking. It could be pushing 215 mph w/ gust 250+ mph!

This could be catastrophic, it's basically a slow moving 7 mile wide EF-5 tornado with massive flooding. There is no shelter from this monster. People need to get the frick out right now or they will not make it

It was a tropical storm yesterday morning! Almost no one was paying attention to it outside of weather nerdville.

(1/2)mv^2

Can't imagine that kind of energy coming at me.

Yeah, I doubt it can keep this up much longer too. Really expecting to see anew ERC by mid afternoon, based on nothing but intuition. Really curious to see what the next recon finds.
