Heather is a troll alter. The best troll alter in the history of TD. I've always thought it was Powerman. I suspected it for a while and then under his screen name a month or so ago he posted a very heather like OP on the poli board and I think he screwed up and thought he was logged in under Heather.

I hope there is some decent data that can be gathered as the storm makes landfall. The 1935 Labor Day hurricane currently holds the record for the lowest pressure ever recorded by a land station at 892 mbars. I believe that is actually the lowest recorded pressure on land near sea level in the world, tropical or otherwise.
ETA: Based on the recent radar images, this story probably doesn't have a shot in hell of reaching those numbers. It is falling apart almost as impressively as it organized.

mexico doesn't have many coastal stations to speak of so that may not be possible unless the eye goes perfectly over a coastal airport.

I am hoping there is some wind gust collection going on. The record for non-tornadic surface wind is currently 253 mph.

But I thought the rumor was that Sampson's ex was heather or something like that?

I lived in Pensacola during Camille. I'll always remember the sound of those winds.
What's the over/under on the time that camera takes a dump?
ETA:And as I posted it went down.

Maybe I'm naive, but it seems ridiculous that we have an accurate reading on a hurricane from 1935 in Florida, but we're just going to have to take educated guesses for this hurricane in Mexico in 2015. Go figure.

Josh Morgerman carries some high tech equipment with him and his data could be used. However, the EPAC Mexican coast is not prime real estate for seeing a surface pressure that low. Florida is probably the only terrain where you see pressure that low at landfall, that isn't an island.

Question: Why doesn't size correlate to strength? This is a powerful storm, but described as small.
Posted on 10/23/15 at 4:36 pm to FLBooGoTigs1
Yeah, it's falling apart fast. Has lost it's eye an hour and a half before landfall.

From the little I understand, the bigger the storm, the more difficult it is to maintain its strength. That makes sense if you think about it too.
