There's not going to be a beach to run on very soon.

Those waves are inching closer and closer to the camera.

I hate to say it but that guy is probably dead man walking. At this point it may be impossible to get far enough inland.

Is this storm stronger than Katrina. I thought Katrina had over 200 MPH winds at one time and then died down before it hit.

By far. Katrina was about 173 sustained; Camille was about 175. This has been 200 for hours. This is the strongest hurricane in recorded history.

I haven't seen an estimated land fall time but it looks like it's getting pretty damn close on radar.
Gotdamn, the sea is angry today, my friends. Like an old man trying to send soup back at the deli. The water level looks like it has risen a ton in just the last 30 mins or so.

Pressure is up over 900 and wind down to 160 per the recon plane. Yay? Beats the alternative.
Hope it confirms.

Sweet! When is she rolling in?
I hate to know that storms destroy peoples lives but there is something about them that you can't help but be drawn to. It is amazing to me that something in nature can organize and become that powerful.
I guess this being the biggest one ever recorded is going to be connected to global warming somehow.

Thank goodness if so. Still going to be pretty bad but better than 200.
