but this clearly could help in a range of metabolic disease.

Define metabolic disease? I really find this to be a semantically overloaded term.

Yoga was the catalyst for me to lose and maintain weight. Vinyasa Flow and Slow Burn are so strenuous that it spikes my leptin hormones and kills my appetite. Add in a couple hundred pushups and ab rolls, daily, and I'm fit as a fiddle. Typically just do yoga 4-5 times a week.

At least you build a relationship with your PCP, which is the way it should be. You are being brainwashed into thinking every single discomfort needs a pill. Then you stroll in and tell your DR. what you want.

Mine will shoot straight with me, and if you feel they are beholden, you get a new Dr.

i wasnt saying that at all...nobody is being brainwashed. sure their are people who fit your description but my point was people are much much better off educating themselves when it comes to scripts and then talking to a doctor about it.

having a relationship with a pcp has nothing to do with it.

Imagine having to take a pill to lose weight when all you have to do is simply eat a little less food and move around more.

Obese people will not do those things.

If the hysteria generated from the worst pandemic in modern history wasn't a wakeup call to the obese when the virus hit them the worst of all comorbidities, then nothing will shock them into pushing away from the table and getting active.

your metabolism also doesnt slow very much. we know that for a fact. it only slows about 10 calories per decade of life after 30.

Weight loss is simply calories in vs calories out. It’s that simple. Metabolism plays very little in it. Unless you have a clinical condition that causes an under active metabolism like hypothyroidism, then metabolic rate means nothing.

i mean it does factor in because it factors into what your maintenance calories are, but

metabolisms are just not as big of a deal as people make them out to be because most of the time its not that much difference between people, most of the difference comes from NEAT

How about the medical community start promoting strength training and fitness? Oh wait there’s no money in that. If people got under a cheap barbell and started doing squats and deadlifts, and did 15-20 minutes of walking on the treadmill everyday, then the cases of cardiovascular disease and T2D would dramatically plummet.

Everyone should have their blood tested at least semiannually. I know that is not realistic in our medical industry, but it is the only way to fully know how to combat certain things like being over weight. Hormone levels play a huge roll. For instance, low T in men is a direct factor of obesity. Too much estrogen, high blood sugar, etc. All of these things, if corrected can lead to a healthier, more fit, lifestyle that wouldn't require a weight loss shot.

That and the fact that there’s no money in preaching the basics. A GP prescribing a strength training powerlifting-based program would yield no kickbacks compared to prescribing a weight loss drug.

Nausea and vomiting are common but dose dependent. Diarrhea / constipation/ stomach upset. Possible link with pancreatitis and cholecystitis although it’s debated. The latter two seem more likely in people with renal disease.

this is mainly the medicine doing its job and punishing the user for making poor food choices

those that tend to eat clean on the medicine and get proper amounts of fiber and protein do not run into the problems.

the constipation is kind of by design as one of the mechanisms is slowing gastic emptying. but proper fiber amounts fix this where you get the benifits without the constipation

those links are weak AF.
