This is going to scar the city for a long time

I was down in the Quarter for lunch today. Decent number of people moving about

We had to step around eight people laying on the sidewalks passed out. City isn’t keeping up the sidewalks and weeds and grass growing all over the place.

Not a very affluent crowd overall. If they don’t clean things up, the conventions will not come back and it will become an urban Panama City. That’s what it looked like today

The quarter is dead, the big money bars, restaurants, and historically established places that lured people down there, are closing down for good bc they can't survive a year long shutdown for nothing.

With crime in the quarter going up, and the Saints caving into the BLM, I have zero desire to ever step foot in that city again. Bums, Antifa types, and many places being owned by foreigners it has totally lost what charm it had left.

NOLA deserves this for voting in the shite people it did.

I wonder if Edwards and his SJW bunch understand that if NOLA dies LOUISIANA dies. Other than NOLA there is NO legitimate reason to come to this state other than a pass through from Texas to Florida.

Hell, this much I know about EWE, he would not allow an incompetent carpetbagger straight outta of Compton to take New Orleans and the area down....plague or whatever.

Was that Charbonnet person honestly so bad that NOLA took an import from California over her for mayor?

For a place so parochial that your high school is still an important symbol of status well into adulthood, how did an outsider pull off the win in the first place?

Yes.
Maybe not Desriée herself, but it has been said here before, that the uptown money that backed Latoya da Destroya, wanted no part of Desirée Charbonnet's brother Bunny being the power behind the throne. He is reputed to be so crooked that they will screw him in the ground when he dies.

His hands would have been in EVERY pie in the city, worse than Latoya, so the conventional wisdom states.

He was a known commodity, Latoya, in her days on the council seemed to be someone more pragmatic. Plus with her tax issues and her corruption in using her city-issued credit card for personal gain, it was assumed that these could be used to keep her in check.

That and the Hard Rock disaster, including the intentional malfesance of the building inspector's office would have kept most politicians humble.

I pray the poster who states that there is a viable candidate is correct. The incumbency is a powerful factor. The poster who talked about the Reverends was accurate too. That's how New Orleans Democrat machine politics work. They BUS voters to the polls every single election, and Reverend tells them who to vote for.

I would guess she is getting George Soros money, as well.

The mayor and governor are not allowing things to open based upon constantly moving guidelines and metrics. How can you expect business owners to continue to sacrifice while the data appears to show this has been a massive overreaction? When these awful leaders “open up” there will be only a fraction of businesses still viable. I think people with your attitude are being naive about the issues coming out of this economically.

It's a Simpsons reference. There's an episode where an inanimate carbon rod wins employee of the month.

Latoya is expecting a big check from the federal government. Trump needs to tell her to pound sand. She created these problems, not the federal government.

The entire city is run by people from out of town that know better than anybody born in NOLA. All of them moved to NOLA to save the dumb SOBs from the South. And hundreds more from NY and CA are still moving in because NOLA is "cool" place to be.

Yes, and it was before the election.

She has said, numerous times to various people, it's not the virus that is her reason for staying in Phase 2. She quite clearly states that she wants more Federal money that the City "deserves". 100% blackmail( no play on words intended).

ETA: met a couple that took the trip because of cheap air/hotels and they were leaving a day earlier to go home

I would say pull your head out of the sand, but I think you need to pull it off Latoya's dick more.

Many people IN Louisiana, that have frequently gone down to Nola, and spent thousands of dollars will not be coming back.

If I want crime, bums, and poorly ran governments I can drive out of where I live to work everyday. When all the old school restaurants and bars shut down, or get bought out by outsiders, Nola is nothing.

I'm glad you don't want my type of people, bc we don't want your type of people where I live. I don't like living around bums, crime, SJWs. I love my suburban life, in a good school system, where the community still has control of its elected officials.

Enjoy your future... It will never get another dime of my money unless things take a drastic change.
