Never understood the difference. The intent is what "god" sees not the arbitrary words used to convey that intent. Every dadgummit Bobby Bowden ever spewed reminded me of this.

I like it. It’s much better than the alternative. I view it as pastor giving us an example to use when we are out on our own.

Cuss words are for humans. There are a handful you shouldn’t say in certain company, so words like the OP are used instead. It isn’t that complicated.

Our pastor cusses every once in a while.
Makes him relatable and he’ll also be the first to tell you he’s a sinner like the rest of us.

Example: a young girl in our church died. Very young. Traffic accident. The church was full to capacity during the funeral. He stood at the front and said, “I don’t know what to say. The only thing that comes to mind is…”

After a long pause, “DAMMIT!!!!”

He got the whole church to repeat after him. I saw young people who had never been in church look at each other and smile.

Clergy are not less prone to sin than us and while they are held to a higher standard, they’re not perfect and shouldn’t be viewed as such.
