Good luck. My niece applied for her passport in February. We had to make numerous phone calls even after it was "expedited" to get it in time for our Costa Rica trip a few weeks ago.

Do not take a 2 month old on a plane that I am on. Thank you.
I used to feel this way, but it’s 2021, if you don’t have sound cancelling headphones, that’s on you.

Y’all fricking crazy to take a newborn on a flight to Mexico.
So you have to miss an event bc of your kid. Get used to it.

Wife would’ve thought of that but I wouldn’t have thanks for the tip.

Things are easier to get down there than they were years ago - but not in all parts of Mexico

Your wife sounds dumb as shite.
Take the baby and flee, brother.

Oh, and don't forget the fact you have to take a Covid test within 48 hours of returning to the US, even if you're vaccinated. And upload it to whatever airline you're flying before you're even allowed to board.
Because Biden said so.

Why would you take a 2 month old on an international trip. Lunacy
Then throw in the airline COVID protocols and this sounds like a terrible idea. I would be overly concerned about exposing my 2 month old to airports, airplanes and Mexico.

There are passport services that will help expedite the process but be prepared to pay at least 500 dollars if they have to walk it through.

You’re in luck. No chance you get the passport that fast after a birth with all the backlog from COVID. Your wife won’t be happy at first, but will enjoy being home with the baby month 2. Have the sister-in-law do a live stream so your wife can watch.

This.
Passport applications are a cluster right now. We applied for our 3 yr olds in February. Got it in June…for our July trip to Mexico.

How are you completing the required covid test for re-entry to the US?

When we went to Belize a couple of weeks ago, the resort had an on-site person administering the tests the day before you flew out.

How much were they charging per test?
I don't think the person I was asking has the time, but you can get a home Covid test that is approved for US re-entry for 25 a test. It's a nasal swab that you take while being on a mobile device's camera and observed by a third party testing service. They then issue the negative test report that you can upload to the airline.
In our case if we had done it through our last hotel we were staying at in Costa Rica, it would have been 100 per person.
Of course the pure bullshite of the entire thing is that even if you're vaccinated and have proof you still have to do it. It's pure political horseshite.

We actually just got back end of last week. We were able to get the tests done for free at the resort.

Lucky. Every place we looked at in Costa Rica was charging at least 100 USD a test.
Hence our taking the home tests with us.
