I'm guessing explosives wont be just at the bottom, but up a few spots up the shaft?

Make the janky building work as a catchers mitt?

The amount of explosives to bring down two cranes, I would think, is less than needed to bring down an entire building, or, the tower at the T-P building that they did a few days ago.

This seems like the least bad of a bunch of bad options, given the location.

Any good rooftop bars in the area? I've searched google and I can't find any other information on imploding a tower crane.

My church is two blocks away. We have a nice roof top patio the priests use. I may about seeing if I can get up there for this.

eta...never mind. View is obstructed by the church.

Maybe just get some drinks at the 3 legged dog on conti and walk to Rampart for the shite show.

I'm assuming they will have a sequence of detonators and the first would be the jib support cables at the top. Or maybe they put one on the jib halfway and it folds in half and then the support cables? Hopefully, the counterweight doesn't punch through the PT transfer slab and shoot cables everywhere. So much could go wrong but I guess they have no options with the storm coming in.

Not sure if/what you can see from Monkey Board. A few building will obstruct it probably.

New/remodeled hotel on Canal at I10. Think Vue is on top

Too bad they don't have a sonic with a rooftop bar nearby. I could grab a beer, a burger and knuckle check some of the baws with the bad attitudes in this thread.

Best place to watch this is gonna be from the elevated Claiborne. But I'm guessing it's going to be closed when this happens.

By dropping these cranes most likely on the garage, they’ve ended any chance of this thing not getting demo’d all the way to ground level

If there's any municipality I trust to use EXPLOSIVES to blow up TWO giant cranes that weigh over 40 TONS a piece in a historic neighborhood directly across the street from a historic theater they just spent $54 million to renovate, it's the city of New Orleans.

It's obstructed. Have to see where they land.

I'm sure they will have a lot of the area blocked off on Rampart.

Let us not forget the 24" gas line running down rampart. It may turn out to be quite a show.
