There are some interesting videos out there of damaged crane removal.

Interesting but seemingly a night and day difference here as the building in that link doesn't appear to be damaged.

I think you are talking about jumping the crane which is different from assembling and disassembling unless I’m misunderstanding what you are writing.

Yeah they erect/take down the tower crane once it is at a certain height but beyond that the tower crane is self climbing.

They don't erect 2000' tower cranes from the ground.

Nor do they erect 400' tower cranes from the ground.

Would it be possible to disassemble a 400' tower crane from the ground? Certainly.

But, with the crane in the compromised state it is, I don't see a line of volunteers signing up for the job...

Are you saying you need a crane to get the bigger crane sections off the truck and assemble them?

Or vise verse when disassembling?

I’ll defer this question to Ramrod since he’s an expert on all things including cranes.

Thank you. 1000% agree. RimRod thinks a mobile crane can’t reach this crane...

Just trying to say that yall are saying the same thing. Your wording was wonky and he didn't view it as you intended.

New New Orleans Hostel on Canal Street shut down due to collapse

Ketterman and all of his guests left everything behind.

"That's our home for me and my staff, that's where we live and now we don't have a place to live," he said. "There's people from all over the world who don't have passports, their luggage."

They sat outside for hours.

"There's people crying at 3 a.m., saying 'I'm in a foreign country, I have no where else to go, I can't afford any of these other places and luckily some hotels pitched in to help out," Ketterman said.

No, he said this.

quote:

sound to me you are the idiot. "Mobile" cranes as you put it just. Don't reach that high. Look at the crane they have there now.

Then instead of admitted he was wrong he doubled down with a stock photo from a tower crane on 1000 foot building and insisted on calling me names. frick that noise.

The 500 ton units can get way up there for sure. But Deep South or Mammoet would more than likely be a call before Turner. The guys that run the equipment group are some of the most genuine and generous folks you’ll ever meet.

the 38 pages of messages have been very interesting to this retired engineer. while the reason for the failure is not yet explained I am confident it will be very clear. looking forward however,,,,,,the demo deconstruction will be a mess ranking with the twin towers. the rapid delivery of a crane by the union is useful for clear the street but there is no way any company with liability insurance will get approval for lifting the first stick off that pile. that includes labor, crane renters, sling renters etc. the City, State, Fed. govt will have to accept liability because of the deep pockets required.

Sorry for glossing over this.

Nobody deserves to go home in a body bag just for coming to work.

I'll defer the non-union/undocumented worker argument to others.

This is from an unapologetic right leaning Trump supporter...

One of the people missing is an ex husband of my Aunt's friend's daughter.

They gave my aunt a free cruise trip since they won't be using it any more.

This whole situation sucks.

Ikr. I had no idea how to word that.

I was surprised when I heard about it this morning.

I wouldn't know how to feel accepting something like that.

The PE civil working on this is about to get into some deep shite, even if it wasn't his fault he's going to be dealing with years long investigation that could possibly end him up in jail

If it were me I would be buying the biggest house I can find in Florida or Texas becoming a resident tomorrow there and filing for bankruptcy protection a couple of weeks later.
