Good riddance I say. Who liked going to a mall anyways. Maybe back in the day they had worthwhile stores, nowadays they have shite stores. Not to mention I prefer not to mingle through crowds to get what I want. The movie theaters and book stores must have saw this coming and got the frick out early. Most probably didn't have theaters in them, but the one I grew up with did.

Spent more time than I care to admit in the Bossier mall.

Bought my first silver chain there circa 1996 from the dude who had a booth in front of the video game store (in what is now called Game Stop).

first off........ If the "Mall" is getting foreclosed by the bank, that means a company has been "renting" for 40 years in a city that isn't New York.

I would bet the mall was sold at some point and the new buy put it on a new 20-30 year amortization just like an individual would do when they buy a house.

Also, South Park Aladdin’s castle was full of west Shreveport trash. St Vincent was the GOAT mall of north la in the 80s and 90s

Is the Boardwalk still good though?

I lived in Bossier when it opened and thought it was the greatest thing

Your love of the suburbs now makes complete sense.

Is that the same place that involved Joe Ferguson as well? I was trying to remember which mall that was in not too long ago. I was talking with some friends of mine about 80s and 90s hot spots like baseball card shops and that was the first place I brought up. I couldn't remember which mall and who was partners with Pat Tilley. I'm pretty sure it was Ferguson. I can picture the signs out front that had both of their names. IIRC.

It’s dead as well, mostly empty stores.

Besides Dillard’s and JC Penny it has about a dozen tennis shoe and urban clothing stores.....any paying customers were run off by people hanging out not buying anything....

you just described every mall in the South.

It’s where people that don’t work hang out. Looked like a freak show last time i was there.

Dead as shite. 50% empty, 25% cheap stores and about a dozen real stores and restaurants left.

I’m surprised Bass Pro is still open.

Bossier has been really dumb in planning except for the downtown and that success is just as much owed to some really awesome entrepreneurs. They’ve let a hundred stores open up on north airline but allow the heart of bossier to go to shite.

This is why you see the shopping areas such as Juban Crossing. Groups can’t hang out and walk through the mall all day. They have to walk outside the store to get to another. This isn’t cool for them.

Every time I read a story like this I'm amazed at how well Lakeside in Metairie is doing. Every time I go it's packed with people buying stuff and carrying bags of purchases from store to store. Normal looking people. And while it does have the area's only Apple Store, every other place in there is something you can find anywhere.

Eh Pecanland in Monroe is always packed and has pretty good array of stores. I hate going to malls and that mall especially is bad on weekend nights but it seems to still be doing well

. Growing the tax base. Seems to be the goal, I base this on the bossier city council desiring a new wal mart about 1.5 miles from an existing, very busy super center and a neighborhood mkt.
