Bank is going to foreclose, over three million in mortgage payments owed. Opened in 1982 and is in one of the fastest growing areas in the state. Besides Dillard’s and JC Penny it has about a dozen tennis shoe and urban clothing stores.....any paying customers were run off by people hanging out not buying anything....

Looks like it’s just a portion of the mall, heard radio story wrong

Malls are dying all over the place. It was only a matter of time.

first off........ If the "Mall" is getting foreclosed by the bank, that means a company has been "renting" for 40 years in a city that isn't New York.

Forget the fact that Malls are a dying vehicle, but input blame on the "company" that has been renting from a bank for 40 years. If they owned this, the story would just be, "Company selling mall for redevelopment."

Problem for the bank is that they are tough to repurpose.

Remember when it first opened.

The Don Drive in was the shite before the mall though. I think the tornado finished it off.

That’s not why they ran off.

It’s easier to buy online than drive up to a brick and mortar.

That doesn’t make any sense OP, you don’t foreclose on rent. I’m guessing you mean the mortgage? I’d be curious how much a lot of that land is worth if everything is bulldozed.

Before smart phones, video games, and 500 channel tv’s we could watch whatever show we wanted at any time, etc. malls were a place to just hang out with friends and kill time. Problem is we don’t have to just kill time anymore we have other things to do.

It's entirely possible that the original owners did own that property outright, but sold it to someone who borrowed money to enable the transaction. Could have happened multiple times, for all we know.

Does borrowing money to buy a mall make sense? Apparently not, but the price may have looked attractive at the time. The death of the mall has been long and slow, and there are survivors.

Is that even anything but the church and Burlington still? Does the church use the building for anything?

Mom would drop me off around 11am, meet up with my friends and and I’d eat lunch and dinner there, hit up Chess King, Structure, Gadzooks and many more

Not to mention the hours spent in the arcade and cd store.

RIP
