He sent his son a powerful message and we need more people doing this nowadays, jail sentences be damned.
Not only that...but he ensured that Jeff Doucet could never harm another child again. Had Gary not done that, this guy would have spent about 10-15 years in prison and then be free to do it again...which they always do.

His dad was such a great shot, if he hesisates a bit or gets nervous, he shoots either the cop or cameraman.

So glad he wasn't charged with murder or had to do prison time.

I still can’t think of a reason to care about votes either way

Is that the father by the phones?

Yes.

But the posted GIF sucks though, because the very best part of the video clip occurs right after that GIF cuts off--when the father goes to the trouble to try to hang up the phone while the sheriff deputies are trying to subdue him.

Perp got off too easy in my opinion. All he knew was he was walking and someone turned the lights off. That’s easy compared to the mental and physical abuse his victim had to go through and live with for the rest of their life

What's the book about? I know the story pretty well, is there anything new to read about?

It’s a whole book. Obviously there are many details that you don’t know unless you’ve spent substantial time with Jody

Pretty sure coming straight from Jody he could share a great deal of information nobody has ever heard before.

Gary was and is a hero. I have always said there needs to be a statue of the man.

There's multiple threads of him answering whatever questions are asked. Probably 2 every year. ESPN segment and another older TV show segment. Not hating because if anyone is unfamiliar with the story it would be interesting to read about. I just don't want to read it if there's nothing new.

Sooo my big takeaway from this is that I’ve read about this story 100 times and watched videos but never heard them pronounce “Plauche”

In my head this whole time I’ve been saying “plowsh” not “plawshay”

The more you know......

I thought Bells made a compelling case in her OP. I watched everything unfold back then and it’s stuck with me all of these years. I want to read it but even if I didn’t I’d buy a copy just to support him. He’s done a lot of good work over the years.

What he did was the definition of murder. Not saying I’m against what he did, but how did manslaughter even become an option?

where the hell do you think they were going to find a jury that was going find him guilty of murder?

The book just came out in August. Even if you think you know everything that happened, it’s worth reading the full story.
