re: Parents Board- Chores for kids

I had to take out the trash starting at maybe 5?
Shortly thereafter I had to do my own laundry, vacuum the house, and yard duty on Saturdays (not every Saturday) with my parents.
Also just helped my dad with miscellaneous projects around the house.

I do all the chores for my kids. It will help me become a better grandparent b/c my kids plan on having a bunch of kids. I prefer them to find their inner selves instead of worrying about chores. I want my kids to have what I didn't growing up and it's ok for them to talk back and even hit me since they are expressing themselves.

I never got paid either. I was given his old truck when I turned 16 and insurance plus gas were paid for.

That work ethic is still with me to this day.

My 10 year old son does the entire family's laundry. I fold. All kids put away their own laundry. The 6 & 7 year olds empty the dishwasher and clean bathrooms and mirrors (they like spray bottles). Everyone cleans their own rooms and playroom. Strip sheets. Set the table. Vacuum and dust. Basically whenever it is time to clean they are like my little army I can deploy. No allowance.

10 year old son mows the grass for $20 and uses it to help pay for his sports and entertainment stuff. (Like if he is invited to Area 51, I make him pay half. If he loses a soccer ball, he pays to replace.)
