If you can afford it, pay to have your kid's umbilical cord medically stored. It will work wonders on stem cell treatments if, god forbid, he/she gets a disease/cancer.

When you kid reaches 1 year old, and gets more than 3 ear infections, insist that the doctor put tubes in.

Also, don't listen to the Jenny Mccarthy types out there; get you kid vaccinated.

But I just really need the insight of the folks who know as much about the world as the OT legends.

I took care of that in the first reply already

When you hold a newborn, keep its ear over your heart. It's accustomed to hearing Mrs Jacket's heartbeat.

If it's a boy, change diapers very carefully. Lay him down on his back, undo the diaper, and then pull the diaper off with one hand while placing a baby wipe over him with the other.

Enjoy the time from when they start crawling to when they start walking. It's the best time. They're interactive but they can't get themselves into any trouble yet.

Warm up their milk by using a microwave safe cup and then pouring the cup into the bottle. Test the temperature of the milk on the inside of your arm. Swirl the bottle to mix hot and cold spots (don't shake because that will mix air bubbles into the milk). You can also heat up the milk by placing the bottle in hot water.

Everyone's pretty well aware that college is the best time of life. Everything after that is just part of an agonizing march towards death

I wouldn't go back.

Well, maybe if I were good enough to play football for Bama or basketball for UNC, but even then it would just be for the paycheck.

Don't EVER let them get on social media..EVER!! We're pretty strict and overbearing at times. I had a sweet teenage daughter that loved spending time with me and thought I hung the moon. She had backbone and character. She plays high school sports now, I coached throughout her childhood....point is, we had a really cool connection and relationship. Last year on her 15th Bday, through pressure from my wife, i gave in and got her her first smart phone. After a year of being on Instagram and Snapchat, I currently have a soulless braindead daughter that makes excuses and lies about everything. She's obsessed with social interaction. Lots of bad shite has gone down the last month, we're currently seeking some kind of counseling as we're obviously not getting thru to her. I've grounded her and said lots of things I've shouldn't, my wife is a wreck...even though my wife didn't owe me an apology, she's felt horrible about pressuring me into giving to her on a few things this past year. Basically I was right, they were wrong....but that doesn't matter now!!

I'm telling you, social media and smart phones are destroying today's youth!! Shield them, find a balance...something! Most of her friends are even worse, I just refuse to accept my children keeping par with todays average entitled youth. Good luck man, raising kids are hard when you give a shite! Our parents had it absolutely made

Don't lose control of your house. That little shite will do everything it can to take over! Be consistent in discipline and give lots of love.

Bestbank has good advice. Also, I always made mine feel loved and safe early on. I never left them to "cry it out" in the dark, alone. I also didn't do for them what they could do for themselves, later on. All four are pretty happy, secure, self-sufficient people now. And don't blink. Have fun. Trust yourself. Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!

Oh, and if you're the dad, your wife may seem insane for a few weeks. She is. Don't test her. If she was a good person before, she'll be fine in a few weeks. Or months. But, yeah, she'll be ok.

Gonna get a ton of down votes for this but......

Get into a personal relationship with The Holy Spirit.

Your marriage will be incredible and parenting will be a breeze.

I have two teens amd we have never had an ounce of issues with either.

Most of the time I just make posts to flame the OT ballers etc- but RESPECT.

Thanks for the insight! It all starts and ends with JC.

You and I are cut from the same mold.

I have a blast on this forum and love the OT's sense of humor. It's the only forum where I will actually laugh when I read it.

However, my personal life has an entirely different focus.
