Which one was the hardest transition? Easiest? Any advice or tips?

Whatever you're trying to say, it sounds miserable.

Oldest (daughter 18) was the best, also most lazy. Does nothing and made straight A's, very book smart.
Middle kid (son 14) has the most common sense and mechanical ability. Not as smart. Will be a "craftsmen" and middle class.
Youngest (daughter 8) is very smart, most witty and sarcastic. Also has the most drive to succeed at something. She will be the most successful, and also ruthless.

My wife and I are fostering to adopt three beautiful children and we went from just the two of us to a family of 5 in less than 6 months. We wouldn't trade it for the world.

Going from 2 to 3 was hardest. You get outnumbered. You have to switch from man-to-man to zone defense.

The third kid changes everything when they’re young. Going somewhere alone with 2 toddlers, not a problem. Trying it alone with 3, get ready to chase.

The real question is “is there really a favorite kid”?
I ask cause I have a 3yr old now and are discussing a second baby. My mom has swore that she doesn’t have a favorite but the middle brother has always been the preferred child.

2-3 was the easiest because your life is already in shambles. Can’t get more shamblier.
0-1 was hard because you're like “wtf are we doing”.
1-2 was kinda hard because you are used to just one.

Yes to this. The bonus is that #1 can do more independently by the time #3 comes around. Never found adding any more any different or harder.

Did nothing to address the question but thanks for telling us all about your kids I guess?

We started off with twins so after a while they operated like having 1 child. Then we had my son and it got a lot harder but that may just be because boys are so much more energetic at that age. Watching him alone was a much bigger chore than watching both of my girls at the same age.

I have #3 on the way, I can't see the transition any worse than 1-2. One was hard because as said you are learning, but 2 sucks because you are out numbered by yourself. Going anywhere is a task. I can't see 3 really changing that a whole lot, but I will certainly see.
The worst part about the transition from 1-2, and I always get flamed on here for it, is that any personal time like fishing is always extremely time sensitive. With 1 my wife and I would easily watch the kid and we each had plenty of time. With 2, you are ready for the other spouse to get home within 3 hours. With 3, I have a feeling it will be the same but worse as 2. Luckily our oldest will be 5, so she can take care of herself and help to tattle on the little ones not behaving.

Of course there is. There are five kids in my family. Our parents are very open about which they like the best. FYI, their rankings are different

0-1 hardest
1-2 second hardest
From 2-3 and 3-4 was piece of cake

First is a completely knew experience. Hardest.
Second is easier. You're outnumbered while alone, but as long as your significant other isn't worthless you're fine.
Third you are always outnumbered. Takes getting used to, but you make it.
Four plus? Piece of cake after you've made it this far.
Additionally, the other kids start getting old enough to help out.
FYI: federal child tax credit only goes to 5.

This is a big deal. If your oldest is 7+, any additional kids are much easier. "Go get me a diaper."
Now, with four, I'm surprised at how much they self-police if I hold them accountable. Looking forward to my oldest being old enough to babysit in a few years.

I always said it was going from one to 2. But we just brought #4 home a couple of months ago, and it is definitely 4. Also could be because I haven't had a baby in a while and was used to 3. But it's been quite the transition.

Yep. I'm at 4 also.
They make good gophers and somebody always rats out or tells the truth worrying that another will turn them in.
Kids are fun.
