I love that being committed to getting a spot is entitled. This has no effect on you unless you are one of the actual entitled people that think they can just stroll up at the start time and get a good spot.

There is a HUGE difference between showing up 5 min before parade and walking in front of people, and showing up at 3 am on Thoth Sunday and finding zero spots and also zero people.

This isn't hard.

Why does Lunchbox argue with people in every thread ever started on TD?

Quality of life issue. This city has many, many, MANY problems but this is one thing they are getting right.

Walk me through what is wright about this. It's not changing anything. Go look at the route if you don't believe me. All of the same committed people that set up this morning are out either guarding their stuff that was already out or putting down new stuff.

As I stated earlier, I have been attending parades on St Charles for decades the majority of which the city has had zero enforcement of this type and it is a complete non issue.

I don't remember this being a big issue 10 or 15 years ago. In my opinion (which doesn't mean shite) this became an issue when everyone could buy a pop-up tent for $40 and 10 chairs for $5 apiece at Academy. Now everyone has a tent they can use to claim a spot and put a ton of chairs out. They are so cheap so no really cares if they are stolen ruined.

That is a figment of your imagination. I've spent the night out there enough times as recently as last year to know you are making shite up.

This has never happened on Monday. Never.

Again, I've been going in the same 2 block stretch for over 30 years and if they do this Monday, it will be the first time.

This is a complete non issue.

If they are guarding their stuff, fine.

If they are putting out new stuff, then I'm guessing the sweep that is happening later this morning will get that.

I guess I'm just wondering why they can't make the rule that you can set with within 24 hours of the parades but have to keep someone on site the entire time. Anyone who sets up before gets picked up.

I'm just not a parade person. I can't imagine wanting to go to all that effort to stake out a space a week in advance. But that's just me. To each their own.

They're staying now. So the same people have the same spots. Nothing changed. Now tell me what is right about it.

Outside of Endymion no one doing this a week in advance. You're being confused by the hyperbole being used by some posters to justify this waste of time.

Crowds have grown over last 10-15 years as well. which provides more incentive to try to claim space.

People have also become more selfish and try to claim much more space than they reasonably need.

I'll also add that from personal experience, a lot of these offenders have moved here in last 10-15 years. It's not lifelong natives who are doing this. The lifelong natives show up a few hours before with their ice chest and sit out and drink and tell stories and jokes with their friends.

Where, exactly?

Because I've had to start going out and camping out at 5 pm the night before Thoth to get one of the last spots available.

What do you mean?

What is right is that they are staying with their stuff, not abandoning it. That's the right thing to do.

Then you've also seen people put there and been on of those people. Congrats on blowing up your own point
